FYI-Runner

Below is some information about I-Runner that you may find beneficial, or answer some questions that you may have regarding our products. If you can't find your answers here, you can always contact us for more information.
PURPOSE-DRIVEN FOOTWEAR

All footwear serves a purpose, but I-Runner shoes have been specifically designed to help reduce the impact and complications often associated with diabetic neuropathy and the physical limitations of those with diabetes. Even well-made shoes can rub the feet creating sores and blisters and for diabetics who suffer from a loss of sensation in their feet, those can become infected and possibly lead to amputation. I-Runner shoes are Medicare approved to help prevent that from happening.

Adhering to the strict guidelines set by Medicare and PDAC (Pricing, Data Analysis and Coding), we have crafted a shoe which qualifies for Medicare billing under the A550 code, but added a few other amenities for comfort and support; they are as follows:

1 – Padded tongue
We’ve added additional padding to the tongue to help prevent unnecessary rubbing and provide a more comfortable feel.

2 – Padded heel
We’ve increased the padding in the heel to provide achilles support and prevent the foot from riding up and down in the shoe.

3 – Midsole shank
We’ve placed a plastic, composite shank running the length of the midsole to help stabilize the wearer against foot roll.

SHOE BREAK-IN PERIOD

Your shoes should become a functioning part of your pedorthic care; following these simple instructions will ensure that they are that.

1 - When you get home with your new shoes, if they are not already in them, place your inserts in the shoes. While wearing socks, put your shoes on and wear them on carpeting for about 30 to 60 minutes.

2 - Remove your socks and shoes and scan your foot for any areas of redness to indicate the shoe may be rubbing your skin.

3 - Once you’ve made sure the shoes aren’t rubbing your skin (by seeing no sign of redness), you can wear them around the house for a day or two, checking for areas of redness each time you take them off.

4 - Once you’ve made sure you’re not having any issues with the shoes, you can wear them outside the house.

5 - Remember, even after this break-in period, you should always check your feet and shoes every day for anything that looks out of the ordinary.

SHOE CLEANING

Following these simple steps of proper and regular shoe maintenance will help prolong the life of your I-Runner.

1 – Clean any dirt off of the shoe upper and outsole with a damp cloth. Allow time to dry.

2 – The shoe lining and insert can be sprayed with your favorite shoe disinfectant spray found at most retail stores.

3 – Never put your I-Runner in a washing machine and/or dryer.
